You know how when you have to pack up your books to move it takes forever because you keep stopping to read them?! That's how it was with me and this issue of Ink & Ruminations: each artist I interviewed had insights that sparked my own, so I'd start to write and layout the pages and then have to dash off to the studio to try something! I'm a big believer in having multiple journal, sketch and practice books going at once. Your travel journals needn't be only of the travels themselves but all the things you're learning about creating them: things you want to remember next time, a wish-list of cool supplies (because occasionally someone will ask you, "what would you like for your birthday, anniversary, etc.?" And you, unlike the rest of us who stand there um-ing, will have a ready answer, "see, there's a set of watercolor crayons I've had my eye on" and they will be thrilled to know they'll be giving you something you really want, so in actuality you've performed an important service in addition to fulfilling your heart's desire...but I digress...), even an expanding address list of interesting people to whom to send postcards from your exotic destination. If you've ever wanted to keep an art travel journal, here's a great place to get ideas. From what to carry your supplies in, to how to put it all together when you return home, this full-color, 24-page publication can help you at every stage of your journey.
Ink & Ruminations is currently SOLD OUT and on hiatus Excerpts from Issue#2 - Black & White Excerpts from Issue#3--COLOR!!
